PRIME (Preparing Residents through Instruction in Migraine Education)
The Carolina Headache Foundation’s flagship program, PRIME, is a high-impact training program tackling a critical gap in healthcare: migraine education for family medicine residents.

Why It’s Needed
• 90% of patients seeking care for recurrent headaches in primary care settings have migraine.
• Over two-thirds of family medicine residents report having less than two hours of migraine-specific training

Why It Matters
• Family doctors are the first—and often only—point of care for people with headache disorders.
• Each trained provider will treat hundreds to thousands of migraine patients over their career.
• PRIME directly addresses 'headache deserts' in North Carolina where specialist care is inaccessible.
